Workshop/Taller: "ARAndo sueños"
This July 18th Las Brisas Nature Reserve participated in a workshop given by the "Alianza de Redes Ambientales - ARAambiente" (Alliance of Environmental Networks) their mission is to develop a process to coordinate various networks and environmental organizations in the country to formulate proposals and programs in Costa Rica. This organization is working on a program called "ARAndo Sueños", it's goal is to build a national biodiversity strategy.

Great Green Macaw
This year was the 20th anniversary of the Great Green Macaw (Ara ambiguus) Program by the Centro Científico Tropical. The goal of this ongoing event is to have a better understanding of the current population of this species in the San Juan-La Selva Biological Corridor. Jairo Jiménez and Ernesto Carman collaborated with their observations at Las Brisas Reserve. They reported seeing two Great Green Macaws at 9:30 am and then ten at 3:30 pm. This at the lower elevation portion


Don't stop counting!
On September 29, 2013, as part of the Photography and Conservation event (Festival de Fotografía y Conservación) held at the reserve, we discovered a new bird species for Las Brisas Nature Reserve! Ernesto Carman, Jairo Jimenez and Ela Villanueva found a Sepia-capped Flycatcher (Leptopogon amaurocephalus) foraging in a mixed species flock along with a dozen other species such as Royal Flycatcher (Onycorhynchus coronatus), Canada Warbler (Cardellina canadensis), Rufous Mourne
V Cerulean Warbler Count at Las Brisas
On Sunday September 08, 2013, the annual Cerulean Warbler Count was held for fifth year in a row. This event is organized by Cerulean Warbler Conservation - Costa Rica (www.cerulea.org) and Las Brisas Nature Reserve in a joint effort to create awareness in of protecting this threatened species, as well as hundreds of other species that share the same habitat. On this occasion, the event took place a week later than other years, and this might have been a reason lower numbers


Night walk - Birding and Nature Festival
The Birding and Nature Festival included two nights walks at Las Brisas Reserve and during our second night the group led Brian Kubicki was happy to find an Anotheca spinosa frog, a specie that belongs to the Hylidae family.
